  • What is Elfbox?

    Elfbox is a monthly service that delivers a personalized selection of toys for children. We combine child development expertise and algorithms to deliver monthly boxes of toys that are personalized to your child's preferences and developmental goals.

    At Elfbox, we understand that being a parent is not easy. Our goal is to partner with you in this journey and help you find the best developmental toys for your child. This is a job we take very seriously. In fact, we have a lab full of passionate toy experts that spend their entire day examining toys just for your child.

    As a parent, receiving unsolicited advice comes with the territory. Although we’re certain that you appreciate the advice and the goodwill behind it, we recognize that every child is different. We are here to listen and work with you, on getting the most engaging, stimulating, and fun toys for your child.

  • What problem is Elfbox trying to solve?

    After talking to many parents, we realized that a common pain point was the accumulation of unused toys in the corner of a room. These toys are a combination of gifts, impulse purchases in the store which failed to hold the child's interest or an online purchase which seemed like a great idea based on the reviews. Ultimately many of the toys never end up being used and end up in a garage sale or donation. We think it’s an unfortunate experience for a parent to have to commit to a toy based on a system that isn’t made for their child.

  • How does it work?

    Our process is designed to partner with you in creating an ambiance of fun that contributes to the growth of your child. To kick start the fun learning process, we ask you to fill out a quick and easy quiz, the result of which is used to create the first box of exciting toys carefully hand selected for your child.

    At this stage, we believe it is incredibly vital for you to participate with your child in the first box of toys — we like to call it the Exploration Stage.

    We encourage parents to play with their child while observing the child’s interaction with each toy. You will provide us feedback on how the toys performed with the child in your monthly review questionnaire. Our child development experts are continuously learning to converge on your child’s needs based on the feedback you provide. This is where your feedback comes into play. We take your feedback and apply it to your next personalized box.

    After the exploration stage comes the Evaluation Stage. If your child loves any of the toys in the box, you can purchase the discounted ones from the box or request a brand new version of the toys to be shipped to your home. Alternatively, you can return all the toys back to us at no cost using the included return label.

    We hope to be a part of this ongoing journey with you every month. We understand life is full of distractions and if needed, you can pause your subscription anytime and we’ll always be ready to pick up where you left off. No need to start over.

  • Do we need a monthly subscription?

    No, you do not need to be on a monthly subscription. This can be a one-time experience for you and your child. However, we believe that our service is ideal as a long-term partnership to help build and optimize your child’s developmental roadmap with each box.

  • What’s inside an Elfbox?

    Each box contains 4 to 5 premium developmental toys with a retail value of around $100. We source toys directly from the manufacturers. Some of our manufacturing partners include Tegu, HABA, Hape, Plan Toys, BeginAgain, Janod, Brio, Valtech, Big Future Toys, Manhattan Toys, KidO, etc.

  • What age groups is Elfbox for?

    The Elfbox service is dedicated for children between 12 months and 5 years.

    Subscription & Pricing

  • How much does Elfbox cost?

    A single child subscription costs $29 per month, out of which $10 can be used towards toy purchases. If you decide to buy all the toys in the box, the entire monthly fee of $29 is credited towards purchases.

  • How often will I receive Elfbox?

    You will receive an Elfbox once every month.

  • When will I be charged?

    Your billing cycle will start on the day you subscribe to the service day. Each month, you will be charged on that same day until you pause or cancel your subscription.

  • Where do I review the toys?

    We will send you an email notification with a link to the review page 2 weeks after you get your box. You can tell us how we did and how engaging each toy was for your child. This helps us in making your child’s future boxes even more fun!

  • How do I pause or cancel my subscription?

    You can simply log in to your account at any time and pause or cancel your membership. You must do so before the next billing cycle to avoid being charged for the next month.

    Shipping & Returns

  • Is shipping really free?

    Yes, shipping is completely free in the US! We even include a prepaid return shipping label in the box for easy returns.

  • When do I return the box?

    You get to keep the box for a period of one month. Each box will contain information about the return date. We will send you reminder notifications a few days before your box is due for return. In most cases, you will receive your next month’s box before you need to send back your current one.

  • What if I return the box late?

    A $5 late fee will be assessed if the return date is missed. We will send you a reminder 3 days before the return date. If you are unable to return the package due to any reason, just shoot us an email at

  • Can I get a free package pick up?

    Indeed you can! If you'd like a free package pick up from USPS, you can simply request one here.


  • Are the toys new?

    We source the toys new directly from the manufacturers. However, when we send you the toys, they may have been played with by other families just like yours. We make sure that the toys contain all the pieces and are cleaned and sanitized thoroughly before shipping. See below for more details on sanitization.

  • Are the toys clean?

    We take the health and safety of all children that play with our toys very seriously. When we get a box back, the toys go through a rigorous screening process. We only re-use toys that meet our strict criteria for safety and quality. After we've screened the toys, we clean and sanitize them using state of the art steam cleaners and non-toxic organic cleaning agents before reusing them in future boxes.

  • Where are the toys sourced from?

    Our toys are sourced from various manufacturers that specialize in making high quality developmental toys like HABA, Hape, Brio, Plan Toys, Janod, etc. We also source new and innovative toys from smaller companies that spring from launchpads like Kickstarter and Indiegogo. All our toys are made of materials that are certified non-toxic and safe for children.


  • What if the toys get damaged or pieces go missing?

    We understand that accidents happen and it's difficult to keep track of every single piece. We want children to play freely with the toys. Hence there is no penalty for damages or losses encountered during play. Instead, if you return the toys back in original condition for 3 months straight, you get a 10% discount on your next box!

  • What if a toy arrives damaged in the box?

    While we strive to send you toys in perfect condition, we can’t guarantee the wear and tear they might go through during shipping. If you receive any damaged toy(s) in the box, please send us an email at with pictures of the toy(s) within 24 hours of receiving the box.


  • Can I purchase the toys in the box?

    You absolutely can! Each box will include a price list for the items in the box. If you decide that you want to purchase a toy, you just don’t return it. We will charge your credit card on file the amount mentioned on the price list. If you'd like a brand new version of a toy in the box, just send us an email at!

  • Can I return the toys that I purchase?

    When you get your Elfbox, you get 30 days to play with the toys and decide whether you want to purchase any toy or not. Once a toy is purchased, we don't accept returns.
